  1. I read Divergent a little bit ago and have been greatly anticipating the next in Roth’s series, but it seems like (from all the reviews I’ve been reading) that it’s drastically worse than the first, which worries me a bit. Nevertheless I will continue with the series, and can’t wait for the film! A must see, and better than The Host I hope 😉

    • You know, I wouldn’t say Insurgent was drastically worse that Divergent. If you were a fan of the first one, you’ll probably still like the second one. I thought they were okay but, to me, they just didn’t have the quality of a top YA series like The Hunger Games. I never got into the Stephanie Meyer books, was The Host book really bad or just the movie or both?

  2. Yep. I found them to be entertaining and, indeed, serviceable, but nothing extraordinary. The concept of being grouped by personality traits was interesting but seemed a bit of a stretch.

    • Yeah, not the most realistic scenario I’ve come across, but I got the feeling that she was willing to sacrifice the realism to get the unique idea in there. I do wish she had explored it a little more, though.
